Plans Monday, Jul 3 2006

Well, I have moved this blog and given it a new updated look so I thought it might be a good idea to list my plans for this project. before, it was a bit of everything with me not really committing to a proper topic but now I am going to do more.

I want this blog to be a record of the documentation I have found and complied. There isn’t a whole lot on the web about some of my favorite topics so I am going to focus on them and hopefully get documentation and discussion happening.

Period Painting techniques
I am going into painting in a big way and am going to document my processes, findings and everything. Currently I am working in the flemish technique but I am going to look at others as well as preparation of surfaces and materials. My eventual goal will be a painting where I have put together everything from the surface to the paints using all period methods and painting techniques.

Chinese Garb
There isn’t tons of accessible chinese garb information so I have been looking into it and will pop up my findings, from artworks and period resources to construction techniques and a bit of a chinese garb diary

Trapunto
Its the lazy person’s embroidery.. or quilting.. or whatever. it’s a cool French technique and if I can do it others can too :)

Elizabethan Garb
Ok, there’s tons on this but I just want to put up pretty pictures of pretty dresses – can you blame me?

Music
Cos I love music! there is also tons on the web but I am hoping to midify some pieces and will put them up when that happens.

Introduction Sunday, Feb 5 2006

This blog is an ongoing diary of two SCAdians. It will serve a couple of purposes. as a garb diary, documentation and pattern-making resources and hopefully as a diary for other aspects of the SCA including music, cooking, event management and more!
My persona is Lady Lisette la Mandeta. I am apprentice to Master Cormac Lenihan and specialize in singing. In the past I have been known to traffic in mens affections and, although I am married now, I still am..affectionate, shall we say, if the circumstances are correct. even though I have had an interesting and varied past I am working hard to reform my character and not bring shame upon the Laurel who was so kind as to take me on.

My husband’s persona is Zhou Long Xi Xian Sheng. He is one of the very few Chinese personae in the knowne world and, as such, much of this diary and documentation will be devoted to him. There is very little documentation on Chinese garb, costuming, naming and everything for the SCA and, while we are doing the research anyway, I figured I should put it all up here! That way it will be easier for the next person. We will be looking at Garb, accessories, tableware, armor, weaponry and how everything can be applied to the SCA as well.

I have interests in painting, singing, and scribing, Zhou is interested in fighting and armoring and has dabbled in brewing.

We live in the Shire of Krae Glas in the Kingdom of Lochac.
