Post Festival – Stuff to do Thursday, Apr 20 2006

Ok this is my list for next festival so far anyway. Some of it is for Me to do, some is for Zhou and the rest is stuff I want to do with a group’s help.

My Stuff:

  • Accessories for garb – cute belts, pouches, headgear and jewellery
  • More chemises and partlets
  • Chinese headgear and accessories
  • A nice cane
  • A good chair
  • Working with The organizers to see about more disability accessibility and help for people with disabilities.

Zhou’s Stuff:

  • Gauntlets
  • Two Swords
  • Pagenatry
  • Fighting training

The Group thing:

  • A nice tent (may be over a period of time…)
  • furniture (may be over a period of time…)
  • Silk pennons galore!

um, I think thats it off the top of my head. I will probably add to this list but thats it so far. I am also going to be focussing on the Silk Road Feast that is coming up in November that I am autocratting. I would love a chinese gown to attend as well as needing to get the whole event up and running. Gwynfor is feastocratting so it should be really great. we are planning several meals throughout the day and different entertainments themed for different parts of the Silk Road.

Back! Wednesday, Apr 19 2006

Well I got through my sewing backlog, everything I wanted to make except headgear and banners – not bad! It all looked really nice too, not the speckiest or anything but really nice standard garb. and comfortable too!
Rowany was fun. I was a bit annoyed by the fact that I couldn’t do everything I wanted to do, our encampment was off a ways and up a hill so it was hard work to go places and back. I was expecting it to be difficult but I wasn’t really prepared. but, rather than grizzle, I am just going to be better prepared next year. In fact I am going to talk with the organizers and see if I cant actually help out so that other people with disabilities can have an easier time too.

The fighting was excellent, Zhou had a great time and I really enjoyed getting together with some people I haven’t seen for years and years and all new people I had never met before! I loved singing and really enjoyed the collegiate I was able to attend. I wanted to take more photos and draw a bit more but I just kept forgetting, there was so much on! You can see my photos if you click on the photo album link in the right there,

I especially loved all the pageantry and the period tents.. I want a tent now… and silk flags! I have already volunteered to paint some up.. and I have a collegiate in mind.. and I want to do more period paintings! I am so keyed up after festival, even though it was hard I cant wait until next year!

Sewing Still Wednesday, Apr 5 2006

Well, another gathered Kirtle down, another well on the way and thanks to the Sterling efforts of Alice two sung robes (thanks Alice!! you are a legend)
Unfortunately I foolishly set foot in Spotlight today.. just for a minute.. just to pick up a couple of things like eyelets and lacing.. and over 20meters in fabric thanks to the $2 table. So now I have another 2 Kirtles to make after the one that is halfway done, another chemise, two or three pairs of pants for Zhou and a short robe. oh, and a velveteen cloak, a velveteen mantle and a silk velvet partlet to make. and a banner.

do you ever get the feeling you have taken too much on? I am not sure I will get this done in ONE WEEK! AARRGGH!
